As the weather warmed for a few days last week the ice on the river began to melt and break up. This caused huge chunks of ice to pile up along the riverbank. I walked down to the end of Parley Street on two different occasions to take pictures and it was beautiful both times.
This Thursday we had the chance to do another FaceTime with Cami's 5th grade class. This time we did it from the Print Shop. Scott talked to the kids about Benjamin Franklin and his skill as a printer and then we demonstrated the printing process. It was a lot of fun to engage with her class. They are a smart group and had some great questions.

There are so many amazing missionaries that are serving with us here. As I work with them I am struck by how humble some of them are. They are incredibly talented people and have been highly successful in their careers and private lives, yet you would never know it. They don’t call attention to themselves or boast and are very modest. I just love serving with them and have learned so much. They are a great blessing to me and to this mission.
The Church News ran an article this past week about our Nauvoo Exodus Commemoration in February. The funny part of it was that Scott wrote the article and I submitted it to the Church News, so I was the one who received the credit for it. That's one of the blessings of being married to a writer :0) Here's the link to the article: Church News - Nauvoo Exodus Commemoration
Sunday (today) Scott and I were able to serve in John Taylor's home. Each time I serve there I learn more about him and the unwavering testimony that he had. When I walk through the doors of his home there is such a feeling of peace and I love to share that with the visitors. He was so dedicated to the gospel of Jesus Christ and knew that it was in the Savior that we can find that peace. For me, John Taylor is an example of steadiness, commitment and an amazing determination to do everything that was required of him. Those are all qualities I can certainly improve upon in my life.

Gotta love the potty chair :0)
The view out the front door.
And the view through the window of the second story bedroom. John Taylor had such a love of the ordinances of the temple and I'm sure loved this view from his home.
